In SPY x FAMILY Cour 2 Episode 19, “A REVENGE PLOT AGAINST DESMOND / MAMA BECOMES THE WIND,” George Glooman, son of a CEO, overheard his dad talk about how how he was going to be executed. And all because of the company owned by Damian Desmond’s father. Will George’s plan to get revenge against Damian succeed? Later, Yor finds that Anya had forgotten her gym clothes. Afraid that Anya would earn a Tonitrus Bolt, Yor sprung into action. Can she find Anya before gym class?

It was a really touching scene. George had broken down and confessed why he had tried to harm Damian. His plight evoked strong emotions from all the kids. The kids felt so moved that even helped him fulfill his wish: that they would all sing together like they would at the upcoming choral event (the one he would miss because he would no longer be in school).
As George prepared to leave on what he thought was his last day, Damian gave him some school supplies. That gesture snow-balled. Many students gave him parting gifts. That’s when Anya stepped up to deliver her gift.
She handed him a leaf. “Anya will give you this leaf she found on the side of the road,” she said (12:42).
I’d say it’s the thought that counts, but I’m pretty sure that would only add to the insult!

Setup: Misunderstandings Are Not Among My Favorite Things
This story could be summed up as “A Tales of Two Misunderstandings.” And to be honest, that trope’s not my favorite. So this is the second episode in a row (like last week’s) that the episode wasn’t my favorite. Now, with SPY x FAMILY, that’s relative. I still very much enjoyed it. But the show’s had such highs that I’m kinda addicted to them!
That, and I really want to see the show developer Yor’s character. In this episode, I learned that her physical antics haven’t gotten old. I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed how she saved the flower pot! Still, I’ve seen her kick a car off the road. I’m ready for some different kinds of insight.

Which means I’m a greedy SOB, I guess! I should really appreciate what I have before I go asking for more. I’ll have to think about that…
Delivery: How Does Loid Really Feel about Yor?
My favorite moment took some thinking about, too. I wondered why I liked it so much. It was towards the end, when Loid “accidentally” ran into Yor on her way home from school. She felt like a failure as a mother. Why? Because Anya had had to comfort her after telling her mom that gym class wasn’t today. Worse, Yor was beating herself up because she felt like she could have easily avoided all this by checking Anya’s schedule.
Loid stopped beside her and said that wasn’t true. At the same time, he thought (22:06), “If Yor continues to be depressed, it’ll affect the mission!”

Then he invited her to lunch, which seemed to cheer her up immensely.
So: Was Loid’s motivation only to preserve the mission? He seemed to act (telling her she wasn’t a failure) before he thought about the mission – almost as if his instincts fired, and then his professional discipline tried to catch up. I’m certain he’s fully assumed the role as Anya’s father. But what about his role as husband? Is he beginning to see Yor as the woman he married? Or as a mission asset?
I like intentional dramatic ambiguity!
