SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 11 – Quick Summary
In SPY x FAMILY Season 2 episode 11, “Berlint in Love / Nightfall’s Daily Life,” Becky invited herself to the Forger residence, ostensibly to play with Anya. But Becky had a different, secret purpose. A purpose she did not want Yor to find out about. Whose side will Anya take – Becky’s or Yor’s? And while the Forger family went on vacation, Fiona Frost/Nightfall stepped up her game with a goal that was not dissimilar to Becky’s. Did Fiona have any better luck?

Favorite Quote from SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 11
Anya didn’t know what to make of Becky’s thoughts. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Anya just filled in a blank I didn’t know existed. It was all in the context of my favorite quote.
We all know how Anya can read minds. That’s a powerful ability, isn’t it? She can know what someone’s secretly planning. She can know if they’re bluffing. Without really thinking too hard about it, I had assumed it would also be a useful trait.
But in this episode, I saw that Anya’s powers aren’t omnipotent. When Becky came over to visit, she had a heck of a time introducing herself to Loid. She managed to stammer out a greeting, but when he responded that he was grateful she was friends with Becky, her six year old mind blew a fuse.
As Becky blushed and shook, Anya read her thoughts, which were (03:06). “Asherishk, tic-tac-toe, triangle, smiley old guy, steam, heart? Some kind of code?”
I guess mind reading isn’t always as useful as I thought it would be!
Favorite Moment from SPY x FAMILY Season 2 Episode 11
The car barely slowed her down – and that effect was temporary! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: I Can’t Fault Yor for Her Conclusion
I find that I enjoy the longer form arcs, like the one that wrapped up in episode 9. I like the format of two (or more) stories per episode. But the longer arcs appeal to me more.
That said, there were some really enjoyable moments in this episode. We had a lot of the hidden identity-based misconceptions, seasoned with the romantic misunderstandings of a six year old. I don’t want to necessarily fault Becky in this. After all, using soap operas as an operations manual carries a certain amount of risk. Still, those moments made me laugh. Especially the one where she pretended to be drunk.
Loid, of course, being the pragmatic man he was, instantly recognized her being drunk was impossible. She had only consumed tea, after all. So he sat perplexed, trying to work out what was going on.
Given her track record, it’s easy how she could come to this conclusion. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Yor, however, came to a completely different conclusion. A conclusion that wasn’t at all out of the realm of possibility, in fact, given her culinary skills. Yor concluded that she had accidentally slipped alcohol into Becky’s drink.
Loid tried to reassure her, but Yor had to take action based on what she saw. And what she was was a six year old girl slumped against her husband with a badly flushed face. Yor being Yor, she picked up Becky and sprinted out of the apartment.
Delivery: Neither Rain, Not Snow, Nor Speeding Car…
Carrying Becky like a football (an American, NFL football), Yor dashed down the sidewalks on the way to the hospital. Becky’s freaking out at this point. She sees her plan has done more than go terribly wrong. It’s crossed into the Forger Family dimension of wrong. She tries to tell Yor that she was in no danger of “acute alcohol poisoning”, but Yor was in the grove.
Then, disaster tried to strike. Distracted by Becky’s protestations, Yor didn’t see the car coming. She was about to be T-boned. So, she did what any self-respecting goddess of assassination would do.
She hurled Becky into the air.
I think it’s fair to say that Becky had regrets. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Actually, she hurled Becky into the air on an instinctively determined trajectory. That was to get Becky out of harm’s way. At the same time, she turned herself so the car would hit her so the impact would launch her along Becky’s line of flight. Yor hit the ground, rolled, and came up on one knee just where Becky would land. Almost without missing a beat, she resumed her sprint. It’s no exaggeration to say that the collision didn’t even slow Yor down.
It’s not likely I’m going to forget that Yor is indestructible and utterly dedicated to the well-being of the people around her. But having a reminder like this is a lot of fun. So was seeing the reaction of the driver and bystanders. I mean, it’s not often you see a hit-and-run where the pedestrian leaves the site of the crash!
What did you think of Fiona’s reaction to Loid giving her a souvenir? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
