Episode 1: Attention Passengers: Is there a Detective on Board?

The Detective Is Already Dead Episode 1 Review – Best In Show

In The Detective is Already Dead episode 1, “Attention Passengers: Is there a Detective on Board?,” Kimihiko Kimizuka could not escape one significant conclusion about his life. Namely, that it sucked. No matter where he went, he walked into a drug deal, or a robbery, or even a murder scene. It got so bad the police detectives began to suspect him because he seemed to always be on the scene! Today, he didn’t witness a crime. He was the victim of a crime. Someone had kidnapped him and forced him to become a courier. Now, he sat in an airplane, flying at 10,000 meters, when he learned something important: Things are never so bad that they can’t get worse.

Episode 2: I Still Remember, After all this Time

The Detective Is Already Dead Episode 2 Review – Best In Show

In The Detective is Already Dead episode 2, “I Still Remember, After all this Time,” Kimihiko Kimizuka has spent the last year trying to move on after the death of Siesta, the legendary detective. But far from moving on, he has only managed to remain stationary. It came as a complete shock when Nagisa Natsunagi grabbed him by the neck tie and demanded that he help her, since she called him a legendary detective. That was Siesta’s title, wasn’t it? Why was this girl confronting him like this? Didn’t she know how annoying — and painful — her question felt? And exactly what did she want his help to do?

Episode 3: That’s Yui-nya Quality

The Detective Is Already Dead Episode 3 Review – Best In Show

In The Detective is Already Dead episode 3, “That’s Yui-nya Quality,” Yui Saikawa launched into an overly excited and breathless story about wanting to protect a family heirloom sapphire. Kimihiko Kimizuka had to physically stop her so he and Nagisa Natsunagi could have some chance of understanding what she was talking about. It turned out that she was a real idol, and she had a real mansion, and she had a real expensive family heirloom sapphire. The problem? Some thief had sent her an anonymous letter stating they were going to steal the gem on the date of her next live performance! That should be something easy to stop, right? Then Kimihiko discovered something that seriously complicated the issue.

    1. It was hard to finish. What made it even harder was how much I wanted to like it after the first episode!

I think Taboo Tattoo will end up remaining my least favorite of the series that I finished. But this is a close second.

Please let me know what you think!
