The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 3 Review – Quick Summary

In The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 3, “The Troubled Classmate,” Noir Starga and Emma Brightness attended the first day of class. There, things went about as well as Noir expected: Young noblemen threw themselves at Emma and completely ignored him, since Noir held only the rank of baronet. That is, they ignored him until Maria Fiana Albert, daughter of a Duke, greeted both Noir and Emma by name. The other nobles in the class were aghast, and Noir worried about repercussions. However, he had used Discerning Eye on Maria before class, and he knew she had a curse cast on her. In about a week, the curse would kill her. How did she know his name? Is there anything he can do, especially since he can’t use his Editor skill because it would cost more than 4 times his life points?

Look, I don’t like the brocon trope, but since I decided to review an ecchi series, so I might as well make the most of it. I mean, it’s not like I’m watching OniAI! This series is tame by comparison.

So, during their first day of class, Noir and Emma had a teacher named Elna Stongs. She wanted the class to pair up for an exercise. Noir and Emma happily teamed up, but Elna wasn’t having it. They were obviously too close, which would give them an advantage. Well, it turned out that there were two others that were too close: Maria and her attendant, Amane.

You can guess what happened next, if for no other reason than this is a harem ecchi comedy. Elna paired Noir and Maria. We still don’t know why Maria was so pleasant to Noir, but she was absolutely thrilled to work with him. Even Noir, who has already built a really solid foundation for a harem, seemed a little starry-eyed. They clasped hands.

Miles away, in the equivalent of a middle school class, Noir’s sister Alice felt one of her hairs stand straight up. Somehow, she knew.

“Another new girl?” she said aloud to the class (15:40).

And I thought Akiko Himenokouji had it bad!

Setup: I Didn’t Have Teachers Like That…

I miss Olivia. This should should have more Olivia. Her snark added spice to the dialogue!

But instead of Olivia, we got Elna. She had trained to be a mercenary for the last 17 years, and she’s really good at it. About 1/2 of the way through the episode, she said she’d do something she knew Noir would like if he avoided one of her attacks. If her first attack had been any indication, Noir was not in for an easy time.

But Elna didn’t count on Noir using Olivia’s skills to simply Improve his own Backstep. And of course, he was able to avoid her attack.

Elna gets points for living up to her word. As Noir lay flag on his back, Elna ground herself on his chest. I’m pretty sure that’s illegal in civilized nations, but apparently, in this kingdom, it’s not only not illegal for a 24 year old woman to grind on a 15 year old dude. It’s something the other 15 year old dudes want in on.

Well, it’s an ecchi comedy. What was I expecting?

Noir gained 200 life points from the experience. Keep in mind that Noir is all about racking up those points so he can better use his skills Get Creative, Bestow, and Editor. I was wondering what was going through Noir’s mind when he told Elna to get off of him — dude almost said her butt was too heavy.

I was not aware that Noir had a death wish.

But I had to wonder: Why is he letting chances to build LP pass by? Why isn’t he using Editor or Creative to boost his sex appeal? Why isn’t he giving himself X-Ray vision to peep at the women-folk? Heck, Olivia even said he could eat delicacies. Why isn’t he having more fun eating?

Then we got the extra credit scene. The show actually foreshadowed it the first time we saw Elna. She was flexing her shoulder because it hurt. Maybe too much sword practice?

Noir found her there and asked if she was okay. She said her shoulders hurt and she wondered if she could “find a gentleman anywhere” to help her. I could just see Noir thinking, “Why, I’m a gentleman!” He offered to help if she would sit on him again. She agreed, on one condition: He had to “satisfy” her. So, Noir used Get Creative to create rare Shoulder Rub Skill.

She sounded pretty satisfied to me.

Finally, he’s thinking like the MC of an ecchi harem comedy! Gotta give the harem reasons to join! I mean, there are enough Ichika Orimuras in the world!
