The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6 Review – Quick Summary

In The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6, “The Tulip Lion,” Maria Fiana Albert astounded Noir Starga, Emma Brightness, Lola Metrose, and Luna Healer with a huge cash prize for saving her life. After a brief discussion on what each would do with their well-earned prizes, Noir dashed off to discuss it with his family. Realizing his father would only try to gamble it away, Noir made the more sensible decision to visit Olivia Servant to get her advice. But when he arrived, she was completely uncommunicative! Is she okay? Is she pranking him again? And if it’s the latter, will she had any good advice for him on what to do with his winnings?

Favorite Quote from The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6

The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6: Lola doesn't pull her punches.

Lola went right for the rhetorical jugular! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

It seems like Maria’s father had two traits that paid huge dividends for our heroes. First, he greatly loved his daughter, and second, he was willing to put a dollar figure on that love. Recognizing it as a team effort, the Duke gave each of our harem 100 million rels. Judging by their reactions, it’s as much money as it seemed.

Luna announced she was going to fix up her clinic, and Noir wondered aloud what he would do. Emma pressed up next to him and suggested he open a store like they’d talked about, probably when they had been growing up. Making it clear she’d more than happy to help, she said (00:44), “That sounds like a decent future, no?”

Lola was not pleased. She pointed out that running a shop would require someone who had skills more like her own. Leaning forward with a sneer, she said (00:53), “Can boobs do calculations? I think not.”

I’ve got to hand it to Lola: In most harem series, none of the contenders would dare call attention to a rival’s assets! I applaud Lola’s self-confidence!

Best in Show Moment for The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6

The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6: I feel sorry for Noir's mom

I feel kinda bad for Noir’s mother. She seems well-acquainted with the idea that her husband isn’t exactly a model citizen. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Setup: A Dramatic Departure

This episode was quite a departure from my expectations. After the fifth episode, I was expecting to see an episode about something like Maria officially joining the harem. Maybe she’d bring Amane along with her. Then, I thought maybe we’d either add a new woman to the lineup or get some antics with the current harem. They worked so well together during the Harem Pride Event. I was ready for more shenanigans!

What we got was a lion with a tulip growing out of his head.

Now, to be fair, I thought Tigerson/Toramaru was a great character. Vashelle was also interesting, based on the very little we know about him. Even Noir’s using his skill Editor to remove the Zombified Skill from Vashelle’s zombie form was cool. I’d not seen that approach to un-zombifying someone before, and it showed Noir thinking on his feet.

No "Zombified" skill for you!

Noir gets points for ingenuity by removing the “Zombified” skill. But it wasn’t the kind of moment I was looking for in this show. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

What Tigerson and Vashelle were not, however, were additions to Noir’s harem. Well, to be honest, given the ending, maybe Alice is starting her own parallel harem. I have no idea how to classify Tigerson and the tulip growing out of his head, but Alice seemed to know exactly what to do. And as a big fan of Miia, it’s not like I have a lot of room to talk about keeping it in the species.

Before this conversation gets completely out of control, let me get to the point: The kind of favorite moment this show usually delivers was starkly absent in this episode. So, I had to fall back to character comedy.

Delivery: Slightly Lowered Expectations

Actually, I had to fall back to character comedy that bordered on cliche. It also offended my send of Good Dadness. But the show it was it is, so I’m going to go with it.

Noir brought his 100 million rels home. His dad was so happy could barely speak. His mother seemed pleasantly surprised and happy for Noir — kind of like he’d surprised her by bringing home a nice honey ham. Alice, of course, used the opportunity to speak glowingly of her brother’s good fortune.

Nice and pleasant vibes so far! Then his father, ever vigilant in his quest to obtain wealth without, you know. working for it, had a great idea: He wanted Noir to give him the money. Noir’s expression immediately darkened, and before his dad could stop him, Noir shrewdly said, “You’re planning to go to the casino, aren’t you?”

The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter Episode 6: Too close, dad.

Did Noir even for a second consider giving his father the money? I’m going with “no…” Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Runner up for my favorite moment goes to Alice. At Noir’s accusation, far from being chagrined, his father exulted in his gambling problem, saying things like he was so glad that his son got him. Alice sidled up to Noir and whispered (03:42), “To put it lightly, he’s absolute trash.” At least she smiled when she said that!

The favorite moment award goes to Noir’s mother, who, with less of a smile than Alice, said (03:45), “He brings shame upon our family.”

I guess it’s nice to see a family who knows each other so well?
