The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 12 – Quick Summary
In The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 12, “Their Magical Revolution,” Anis and Euphie came to a sobering realization in the previous episode. They did not agree on the best path forward. Neither wanted the other to come to harm. So they had to reconcile their differences with a duel. Will they be able to go through with it? Will the king and queen let them? And what does Ilia think of this?

Favorite Quote from The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 12
Anis’s despair hardened Euphie’s resolve. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I think Euphie became my favorite character in this episode. Part of it was the fullness of her character arc. There were two other reasons: my favorite quote and my favorite moment.
Saying Anis and Euphie are both strong-willed an understatement. Both of them are practically forces of nature. Both of them had drawn their conclusions, and neither would back down.
I loved how they both voiced their positions. They were passionate; they were articulate; they were open and honest. Both were willing to put their lives on the line to help the other. But I really feel like Euphie had the most moving statement of her conviction.
After Anis tearfully voiced her despair and said she was ready to give up, Euphie said (02:49), “I can’t condone anything that hurts you.”
I could practically feel the fabric of reality bending to get away from the power of her will. I watch anime or read fiction because I hope to see statements like that.
Favorite Moment from The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 12
Euphie has grown confident – and she knows what she wants. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Euphie Grew Stronger and Stronger
Remember Euphie from the first episode? She was submissive, she was dutiful, and she was resigned to live the life put in front of her. Her growth has been one of the highlights of a season packaged with anime goodness. And she gave us what might be the perfect example of how she’s grown.
Back in the second episode, Anis had to forcefully give Euphie the space and permission to figure out what she wanted. Euphie needed both. She never had the opportunity to make that kind of decision before. It seemed insurmountable at first. But, you know what?
She figured it out.
Euphie loved the sword Anis gave her. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Euphie was sitting on her bed, admiring her sword, when Anis stopped by. Anis shared something she had never told anyone – she spoke of her memories of her previous world, and of her fear that in coming to this world, she had displaced the king and queen’s real daughter. She felt miserable.
Euphie, in a role-reversal that itself showed her growth, comforted Anis. It’d been a long day. They were both physically and emotionally exhausted. In that moment of profound emotional intimacy, Euphie kissed Anis (12:09).
Delivery: Now Euphie Knows What She Wants
Remember in previous episodes how Anis loudly proclaimed that she had rescued Euphie from Algard? And how she loudly insinuated that she was going to keep Euphie close to her – and not only as an assistant? Well, now, Anis faltered. She even suggested that the kiss might have been just between friends.
Euphie now demonstrated character growth. She said sure, if Anis wanted to think of it that way, she could. Then – get this – she pushed Anis down onto the bed.
“But if you can,” she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear (13:00). “I’d like you to accept this feeling for what it is.”
Poor Anis looked panicked.
“Euphie, wait,” she said.
Personally, I think Euphie presented a compelling argument. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Euphie answered (13:08), “I won’t wait.”
Can you imagine Euphie doing anything even remotely like that even a few episodes ago? Certainly not in the opening episodes. But now, she had figured out what she wanted. Or more precisely, she figured out who she wanted. She wanted Anis.
At some point, we should probably have a discussion about consent. I mean, Anis did say she wanted to wait. Confident Euphie is good, but maybe she should have throttled back a bit? Honestly, I’m not sure. I suspect in emotionally intimate moments like this, there are cultural nuances that I’m missing.
After all, in subsequent scenes, Anis seemed like she was very much at home in their relationship. Still, these are the kinds of things I worry about. Even still, it didn’t detract from the moment, which was my favorite in the episode.
What did you think of their battle in the beginning? What were your favorite moments from the episode? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

I thought the final episode was very sweet. From the sword fight to help them talk out their points of view, to the flustered smooch, to the flying dance, it was a very heart felt ending. It was a little over the top, but I liked how hopeful the ending was. Things hadn’t suddenly changed in the whole kingdom and the nobles still didn’t really like the idea that magic might become accessible to everyone, but there was real signs that things could change for the better soon!
“but I liked how hopeful the ending was. ”
That’s a great way to put it! It was a very hopeful ending. It was a great way to end the first season.
I suspect in the next season (I hope we get one!), we’ll see some of those nobles figure out how to push back. But right now, Anis and Euphie are together and the kingdom is on the right track. Even the king is no longer twitchy!
That was a brief showdown, after an episode of talking to get to it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this was the first time we really saw what Euphie could do, right? That kind of made her victory feel a little easy… or deus ex machina, something like that. But either way, I’m glad neither of them were properly hurt.
Anis opened up to Euphie in a way she has opened up to no one else, telling her the truth of her previous life, and sharing her fears that maybe she, who has none of the magic she should have had as a princess, actually overwrote the original Anis at the time of birth. That’s something I had not thought of, but I’ve seen it happen in a couple of similar isekai, like Ascendance of a Bookworm or Parallel World Pharmacy. It’s a very disturbing and horrifying idea which Anis has apparently been living with for her entire life.
It is ironic that Anis was so naughty and flirty in the beginning, but now she gets bashful and it’s Euphie who takes charge. She has indeed become the queen, gentle and refined, but also firm and inexorable.
On the issue of consent, I will say that there is a huge difference between saying “no,” and meaning it, and so bashfully protesting, “wait.” I mean, you think Anis, of all people, fully alert and sober, would tolerate it for even an instant if she didn’t actually want it? But even wanting it does not mean one is ever ready for their first time, and won’t ever be until someone they love takes charge, just a bit.
The whole sequence at the end with them literally taking flight together felt poetic, but also a bit over the top and drawn out. And after the entire ordeal with Anis’ broom and developing the new flying vehicles, exactly where and how did they conjure up clothing that lets them fly?
“but this was the first time we really saw what Euphie could do, right? That kind of made her victory feel a little easy… or deus ex machina, something like that.”
I’d call it Euphie ex machina…
Yes, this is the first time we’ve seen her power level. I _think_, based on what Lumi said, that Euphie actually made the spirit contract, and that’s what made her so powerful. I think that’s why Lumi said “It has been done” around 4:15.
Anis’s fear that she’d overwritten her body’s original personality was pretty heavy stuff. I didn’t watch Ascendance of a Bookworm or Parallel World Pharmacy, so this idea is relatively new to me. Seems like I need to watch more!
Maybe Anis’s earlier very forward flirting is why Euphie could not take her “Wait” seriously.
“you think Anis, of all people, fully alert and sober, would tolerate it for even an instant if she didn’t actually want it?”
Good point. If she had wanted to resist, she could have. But we’re to the point where some folks will try to say “Her mouth said no, but her body said yes” to justify some morally reprehensible stuff. I guess even the hint makes me uneasy.
“And after the entire ordeal with Anis’ broom and developing the new flying vehicles, exactly where and how did they conjure up clothing that lets them fly?”
Magic!
But to your point: it did feel drawn out. But hey, they’ve been through a lot. I figured they’d earned a little aerial alone time. If that’s a thing.
