The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3 – Quick Summary

In The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3, “The Rainbow Magic Sword of Longing and Reminiscence,” Euphyllia received a summons to appear before the king. Ilia consented to go with her. Orphans II Palletia, the king, had to question Euphyllia regarding the matter of her broken engagement and the accusations against her. Euphyllia’s father, Grantz Magenta, participated. Will they be sympathetic to Euphyllia’s situation? Is there anything Anisphia can do? Or would she just make matters worse?

Favorite Quote from The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3: Ilia is painfully honest!

It’s good to know I can count on Ilia’s honesty! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

I’m on the verge of renaming this section Ilia’s Quote of the Episode, because she’s on a three-episode roll. In this episode, Ilia felt compelled to make a comment about the Marauder Princess and her approach to life.

The maid had to help Euphyllia get changed because a crash-landing on a malfunctioning broom left its mark on her outfit. Euphyllia asked a perfectly reasonable question. She wanted to know if Anisphia had always been like that – overflowing with creativity and putting herself and everyone around her in danger.

I had to wonder if the answer surprised Euphyllia. Ilia said (09:53), “Most certainly not. Long ago, she was even more reckless. Her absurdity, idiocy, and insanity were on full display.”

So, what we’re seeing is a toned down version? Good heavens!

Favorite Moment from The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3: Clearly, Anisphia adores Euphyllia.

If you ever forget what adoration looks like… Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Setup: A Lap Pillow Came In Second Place

That ending was heart-warming. It was life-affirming. It featured a lap pillow. Not only that, but it showcased a sleepy Anisphia gushing about Euphyllia’s beauty. There was nothing I didn’t like about that scene.

And it wasn’t my favorite.

This show gives off a warm, enveloping vibe. This is the second week where I felt better about the world after watching the episode. I think I understand the magic: it’s all about the characters. I already adore Anisphia’s heart and outlook on life. I’m completely invested in seeing Euphyllia exonerated. More than that, I want to see her find a direction in life that brings her joy.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3: The lap pillow scene was only my 2nd favorite.

I’m still a little surprised this isn’t my favorite scene. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

That’s the power of skillfully-written protagonists. We’re only three episodes in, and I absolutely positively want to see them succeed. And they are so great together! There’s a real chemistry there. The young and still bombastic Anisphia being smitten by the Euphyllia’s powerful grace and beauty; Euphyllia’s looking up to Aniphia’s creativity and strength.

They compliment each other perfectly, don’t they? Even more than Chisato and Takina did. Coming from me, that’s saying a lot!

So, if that last scene wasn’t my favorite, which was?

Delivery: Euphyllia’s Beautiful Magic

Anisphia spent all night laboring to make a special magic item for Euphyllia. She made an elegant and powerful sword. It was a beautiful weapon. Anisphia couldn’t wait for Euphyllia to test it. Well, she didn’t intend to wait, but Ilia had something to say about that. The Princess had stayed up all night and was still in her overalls. So, she had to change first.

One does not cross Ilia.

Anisphia encouraged Euphyllia to use one of the trees as a target. At first, she hesitated. Then she grasped the hilt and drew the sword. Immediately, you could see a change in her demeanor. Euphyllia’s tentative look disappeared. The sword brought out her confidence and strength.

“Amazing,” she thought (18:35). “It’s as though it’s already part of me!”

She tried to launch a firebolt at the tree. Bell Cranel would have been proud of the result. She obliterated the tree, much to the Princess’s delight. At Anisphia’s encouragement, Euphyllia put the blade through its magical paces — first as a water blade, then as fire and the other elements. As the sword responded perfectly to her will, her smile grew. Her worry melted away as the sheer joy of wielding the blade made her heart soar.

And so did Anisphia’s admiration.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady Episode 3: Using the sword brought Euphyllia a sense of joy

Actually, I’m not in the least bit surprised this was my favorite scene. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

The smile on Anisphia’s face as she watched Euphyllia was quietly adoring.

“It’s still true,” she said (19:31). “Euphie’s magic is so beautiful.”

There’s a meme that says something along the lines of “find yourself a significant other who looks at you like < this person > looks at < another person >.” This might be the most perfect example I’ve ever seen!
