Tower of God Season Two Episode 01 – Quick Summary
In Tower of God Season 2 episode 01, “Last Chance,” we see Bam having just survived Rachel’s betrayal. He’s determined to find out what happened, and why – and he’s determined to do it himself. He even refused Hwaryun’s offer of help. But then Bam fades from the spotlight. Instead, we follow Wangnan Ja as he prepares to take the exam on the 20th floor again. It’ll be his last time, because the loan sharks will harvest his organs for payment if he fails. Will Wangnan Ja finally pass? Will he end up enriching the lives of others who rely on organ donation for survival? And what happened to Bam?

Favorite Quote from Tower of God Season Two Episode 01
Wangan Ja gets points for being brash, if nothing else. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I’m still trying to figure out if I like Wangnan Ja as a protagonist. When he seemed inclined to side against Goseng Yeo, I admit was was looking askance at him. Yes, I know – he’s sympathetic. If he loses, the loan shark will harvest his organs for payment.
But when he made the little girl cry? I was ready to abandon him.
Then the silver haired guy showed up. He got all uppity with the group. Dude even said that Goseng Yeo and the “kid” should get kicked out. To show how confident he was that he was right, he – the last guy to show up – out it to the vote.
No one else raised their hand. Until Wangnan Ja did. I had almost decided I was not going to root for the guy when he said my favorite quote.
“I agree,” he said (16:19). “Get out of here, silver.”
And just like that, Wangnan Ja was on my good side again.
Favorite Moment from Tower of God Season Two Episode 01
She wields rhetoric with brutality. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Bam Has Had a Tough Time
I reviewed the original Tower of God as it aired. That was all the way back in 2020. It seems like forever ago, doesn’t it? But in reality, it was just a little while. But in that time, I’d forgotten what I liked about this series. Namely, I didn’t realize how much I had missed Endorsi Jahad and Ha Yuri Jahad. Of the former, we only caught a glimpse, but she was everything I remembered – black tights and all. Of the latter? Well, she gave us my favorite moment!
But first: how long did it take you to realize the identify of the mysterious figure who awaited Wangran Ja? I had some minor suspicions that he was more than just a random dude early on. But it took me until almost the very end when I realized who it was. At least, I’m 95% certain. And wow, has he seen better days!
Someone needs a haircut! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Though being utterly betrayed will do that to a person. The first time, anyway. After that, you kind of get used to it. But on to my favorite moment.
I really, really like Ha Yuri Jahad. She’s drop-dead gorgeous. She’s strong. I am pretty sure she is just that courageous. And she doesn’t take crap from anyone – not even her family.
Delivery: Yuri Stood Up to Maschenny
She had come home after recovering Green April. She was surprised to find her sister Maschenny hanging around. Was it just me, or did Maschenny have a real Karasuba vibe (from Sekirei). Shoot. Now I want to rewatch that series.
Anyway. There’s obviously rivalry between the sisters, because Maschenny immediately started needling Yuri. At first, Maschenny was all, “Hey, dad thought it was great you got Green April.” But then she said (02:34), “Don’t you think two is too great a responsibility for a child like you?”
Maschenny seemed to think she had the upper hand. Nope! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
You remember Yuri, right? I knew instantly that she wouldn’t take that, even from her sister. What I didn’t expect is how quick thinking she was. Now, I’m not saying she’s all brawn. Far from it. I’d just forgotten, since I’d watched the original series, how bright she was! Without missing a beat, she said (02:40), “You’re getting old. Why don’t you give Yellow May to me and take it easy?”
Ouch!
We didn’t get a good look at Maschenny’s face afterward. She sounded like she was satisfied that her sister matched her. But still. Suggesting her Maschenny was old could not have sat well! But it was perfectly in character with Yuri’s attitude. Felt just like coming home – if home had more barbed wire than it actually does!
What did you think of the loan sharks? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to share in the comments!

To be honest, I forgot far too much about season one. The only people I remember clearly (with their function and all) are: protagonist, blong girl, princess, dragon guy, and white haired boy. I have some recollection of some of the others, but it’s sketchy and incomplete. The show didn’t play catch up (which is good), so I didn’t really know who is who. I certainly didn’t remember blondie, and for a while I thought he was a new character, but the line about “team normies” rang a bell somewhere, and now I’m half-sure I was wrong about that. Honestly, I should have read a summary and/or looked up characters to refresh my memory. I liked season one, but it turned out somewhat less memorable than I thought it would. I was surprised about just how much I’ve forgotten.
Three princesses stuck in my memory — but then, they were my favorite characters, so that’s why I remembered them. I still remember Endori and the green girl (I had to look her up — Anaak) fighting. That was a well-delivered scene.
I like how the first episode spent just enough time to remind us of the core betrayal. That set the tone! After that, it’s right into new stuff.
I _think_ the new guy in danger of losing his organs is new. At least, I don’t remember him. I’m still trying to decide if I like him. On average, I’m as annoyed as I am intrigued. That’s probably good at this point. I’m a) not repelled and b) wondering about him. That’s a good sign.
Looked it up on MAL, and new guy really is new. Something he said made feel like he maybe wasn’t, but me not remembering the show very much seems to go both ways. Heh.
I do remember the green girl, but I’d forgotten about Endori until she showed up. After episode two, they’ve referenced a lot of factions, and I just don’t know who is who. At least the I remember the Royals…
Anyway, I remember liking the show, and I like this season so far, too, even though none of my favourites have returned so far.
