Tower of God Season Two Episode 06 – Quick Summary

In Tower of God Season 2 episode 06, “Zygaena’s Flower,” Yihwa Yeon learned that Viole wasn’t the one going around roughing people up in the name of FUG. It was some random guy looking for extortion money. But she still didn’t trust Viole. In fact, she said so with such force that Hwaryun became alarmed. Not on Viole’s behalf – on Yihwa Yeon’s! Viole even tried to dissuade Ha Jinsung from taking any hasty action. Can Viole get Yihwa Yeon to shut up in time? Or will her temper get the better of her – again?

Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.

Favorite Quote from Tower of God Season Two Episode 06

Tower of God Season 2 episode 06: Ha Jinsung was serious about Viole's new team treating him well

It seems that this guy really wants to see Viole get along with his new team. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Ha Jinsung seems like he really likes Viole. This being the Tower of God, I find myself distrusting every single person on the screen. I would not be surprised if Goseng Yeo turns out to be a murderous banshee. Miseng Yeo? Probably a shape-shifting vampire.

Not really. But this show makes me paranoid!

That’s why I thought it was kind of cool that Ha Jinsung seems to actually like Viole – who I think we got confirmation is really Bam (07:19 is the first time I remember someone calling him Bam, but flashbacks may already have cemented his identity). As he interviewed Viole’s new team, he talked amicably. Until he got very, very serious without obviously becoming so.

“Viole can be a bit gloomy,” he said, casting a chill across the room (03:49). “You’re not excluding him, are you?”

It’s nice to have friends who you can count on!

Favorite Moment from Tower of God Season Two Episode 06

Tower of God Season 2 episode 06: Hwaryun seemed happy Viole's new team could live

I think she was honestly happy for Wangnan Ja. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

I might have to read the manhwa. I’ve had a feeling all along that the anime had to skip a lot of the lore and side characters. Based on the Reddit thread (see below), that’s particularly true for this episode.

In terms of the narrative, this episode seemed to knit together the old and the new. The first five episodes gave us the background information. This episode tied it together. The animation, while not capturing my imagination to the extent the first season did, seemed more smooth and consistent, too. The episode left the most positive impression of any of the the second season episodes so far.

My favorite moment came shortly after my favorite quote. Everyone else had left, leaving Wangnan Ja and Hwaryun alone. Wangnan Ja felt uncomfortable. I have a sense he knew Hwaryun was dangerous, but I don’t think he felt like she was a threat to him. He tried to keep the conversation going.

As she munched on a slice of apple, Hwaryn said (06:00), “Good for you!”

Wangnan Ja became very still. He could see she wasn’t joking around. She went on to say, “It looks like he’s letting you live,” where “he” meant Ha Jinsung. “Congratulations. FUG’s higher-ups want Viole to climb the Tower with a team that can match him. He came here to kill all of you and form a different team. But for now, he’s letting you live.”

Tower of God Season 2 episode 06: Wangnan Ja believed what Hwaryun was saying

I think Wangnan Ja believed her. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Wangnan Ja’s expression made it very clear: he knew she wasn’t joking. What’s more, he knew that Ha Jinsung could do it, too. This kind of Moment of Clarity(™) are personal favorites. I just love seeing a character’s reaction when something previously obscure becomes clear – and I get to see how they react.

Given how Wangnan Ja acted later – after he knew the true cost of Bam losing any test – I have to say: he’s growing on me. I still find Bam and his original team more fascinating overall. But for the first time, I think that Wangnan Ja and the rest of this team has potential.

What did you think of meeting Mazino (the link includes spoilers — be careful!)? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

  1. There was a lot of info this episode. I really liked meeting some of the other FUG members and learning more about Bam’s motivations this time around. I also feel like maybe too much was smooshed into one episode. We got the background of what motivates Bam, plus meeting the other FUG members, plus traveling to the next test, plus a run down of the next test, plus dealing with that giant sea monster, plus meeting Mazino. It seemed like there was too much and not a whole lot of details was given to any of it. I still liked the episode, I just feel like it needs to slow down and catch it’s breath a little.

    1. There have been times I’ve frowned at the pacing. I don’t know how much of the manwha they’re trying to get through this season, but this episode was certainly information-rich! At least they didn’t try to force-fit the confrontation with Mazino in this episode!

    1. The story, its world, and its characters are still deeply fascinating! I like well-written political intrigue, and this show scratches that itch!

    1. Thanks — very interesting material! I’m trying to think how I could incorporate it. I might prototype adding an RSS feed at the end of each of my five favorite posts — maybe to give readers a preview of what else that site offers.

I think adding it to the entire list might be too much!

      1. That’s a good idea, can help readers check out other works they’ve done. Yeah, been playing around with it in columns, it is a bit too much, wordpress has made the blog roll block, that can be something you can look at for your list

        1. Last I looked, WordPress had deprecated their blog rolls — but maybe they’re reinvigorated them? I’m using Simple Links, and it’s been working well for me so far.

            1. Ah! I’d missed that WordPress added it back. I found this post that describes what happened:

              https://tagn.wordpress.com/2024/07/21/blogroll-destroyed-and-reborn-how-can-wordpress-com-be-so-bad-at-supporting-blogging/

I clearly remember that the reason I went with Simple Links was that WordPress has removed support for their old blog roll widget.

I’ll keep an eye on what WordPress does with their new Blogroll Block. TBH, at this point, my faith in WordPress isn’t at its peak, so they need to work pretty hard to make me switch.

Please let me know what you think!
