Tower of God Season Two Episode 13 – Quick Summary
In Tower of God Season 2 episode 13, “Archimedes,” Aguero Agnes Khun pushed Wangnan Ja to let him join the team. Most of the team seemed okay with it. But Wangnan Ja wasn’t so sure. What was his worry? Why did he not accept Khun at his word? Does Wangnan Ja himself even understand his opposition to Khun?
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from Tower of God Season Two Episode 13
It was pleasant seeing the team experience a moment of levity. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
As soon as Khun asked the team to join him in the Workshop battle, the entire team was in – except for Wangnan Ja. He seemed more than reluctant. He seemed outright opposed. Khun said they had no reason to say no. He even went so far as to say, with complete confidence, that the issue was settled.
Wangnan Ja objected and walked away from Khun. He asked for a team meeting.
Prince was indignant. Akraptor said they were planning to enter anyway, so why not? That’s when Goseng Yeo spoke up. She said (04:27), “Can we even say no? He had ‘there’s no way you’ll refuse’ written all over his face.”
“Yeah,” said Miseng Yeo. “ He made a face like this when he said it was settled.”
She produced a very good facsimile of Khun’s expression.
“Aw,” Goseng Yeo said. “You look just like him!”
It was kind of nice seeing a moment of levity.
Favorite Moment from Tower of God Season Two Episode 13
Khun had been suppressing a lot of frustration. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: The Art Has Improved Since Episode 1
I think that the art and animation has improved, especially when compared to the first episode. I like to see that. It feels like some of the animators might have been new, and we’re seeing them grow into their craft. I could be wrong, of course; that’s just how it looks to me on the outside.
In particular, I liked the more lively expressions during the dialogue in this episode. The characters seemed to stay on model fewer obvious departures.
Wangnan Ja went up in my estimation in this episode when he said (17:03), “I wonder if I’ll get to see Endorsi Jahad in person.” Why, yes, I do have a shallow side. Why do you ask?
I endorse Wangnan Ja’s opinion regarding this matter. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
My favorite moment in this episode was just after the team went for their test. Khun stayed behind with the convalescing Dan Edin. Khun let his facade slip. Apparently, he’s been struggling to deal with the averageness of this team. I can understand where he’s coming from. He was used to fighting beside Endorsi, Ran, and other insanely powerful Regulars.
I’m not trying to insult anyone. But seriously – how well can Miseng Yeo project force? Can she project any at all? That has to be an adjustment for Khun.
Delivery: Dan was There for Khun
“Damn it,” he said, alone with Dan(14:04). “How many years did Bam put up with this team? I’m sick of smiling like it’s no big deal. I’m starting to think it’d be easier if they lost.”
Dan might have lost the use of his talented legs. But he could still think.
“Hey,” he said (14:12). “Pull yourself together.”
That might not seem like a huge deal. But I enjoyed seeing the powerful Khun struggling a bit. That’s dramatic. Moreover, he admitted his frustration to Dan – that implied trust. And finally, Dan came through for him. He listened and gave Khun constructive feedback. Later, as he took a walk, he reflected that all of this had to be hard on Khun, given his experience.
Dan reflected on how Khun had only worked with the cream of the crop before this. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
The next cour starts next week. If the art continues to improve, if we get to see some of my old favorite characters, and if the series keeps up with its political intrigue, then it might be something I begin to look forward to each week!
And for those of you who have enjoyed it since the first episode of this season: I think the show’s going to reward your positive thoughts.
What did you think of the animation in this episode? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
