Tower of God Season Two Episode 20 – Quick Summary
In Tower of God Season 2 episode 20, “Like a Flame in the Wind,” Rak finally manages to reunite with Viole, only to have the reunion cut short as Viole’s FUG allies close in. Viole promises to reunite with them as soon as he can. Toward that end, he makes a pact with Beta. But this being the Tower of God, one has to ask: can Viole trust Beta? Or would the better question be, “Since he can’t trust Beta, what should he do instead?” Meanwhile, Horyang goes off in search of his old teammates.

Favorite Quote from Tower of God Season Two Episode 20
Someone’s having a bad day. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I like Wangnan Ja. I don’t like his character as much as I like Khun or Rak. Or Endorsi. Or… okay, you get the idea. I’ve bonded with the first season characters in a way that the second season character didn’t. But, that said, I still like Wangnan Ja.
He’s responsible for my favorite quote, and he’s involved in my favorite moment, too. For the quote, do you remember when he and Khun were trying to use the portal to summon another of their team members? They started just as two enemies approached. Wangnan Ja entered the name for the character he wanted – Quaetro Blitz – as the enemy prepared to attack.
The summoning device said they were buffering. The new player would emerge in five minutes.
Khun, across the audio link, expressed shock.
Wangnan Ja was more pragmatic, saying (11:35), “Well, we’re screwed.”
I liked his calm assessment.
Favorite Moment from Tower of God Season Two Episode 20
Wangnan Ja couldn’t let Khun’s words go to waste. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Some Competition for Favorite Moment!
I didn’t catch this while I was watching the episode. But did you see the eye at 21:58? User TheRetribution, in the Reddit thread, suggested it was Rachel’s eye – that Beta was actually Rachel. She was a good villain before – this would peg the meter, don’t you think?
Several moments appealed to me in this episode. Here are some examples:
- The continuation of Rak’s reunion with Black Turtle
- Endorsi reminding Bam/Viole that she still wanted that date
- Horyang reuniting with Goseng Yeo, Miseng Yeo, and Prince.
- Prince realizing there was an incoming emotionally touching moment between Horyang and Goseng, so making an excuse to be scarce.
- Prince and Miseng Yeo listening in on Horyang and Goseng Yeo’s conversation.
They need to work on their stealth. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Interestingly, several of the moments involved just the second season cast. I guess some of them are growing on me!
Speaking of the second season cast, Wangnan Ja not only provided my favorite quote. He’s part of my favorite moment, too. When he realized that there was no way that Quaetro Blitz would arrive before the enemy pair attacked him, his only option was to listen to Khun’s suggestion: run like his life depended on it.
Delivery: Khun Knows Wangnan Ja
But it wasn’t working. The attacks got closer and closer, and Wangnan Ja and Khun both knew the end was near. Khun thought hard, and finally, he had an idea. He told Wangnan Ja to charge the pair.
Wangnan Ja, quite reasonably, objected. Khun tried to convince the man to trust him and attempt this little experiment, but it was a tough ask. So, Khun bottom-lined it for him.
“Your only strength is your ridiculous courage!” Khun said (15:13).
Wangnan Ja knew he had to use his super power. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Wangnan Ja skidded to a halt and said (15:21), “Well, now I can’t not do it.”
Khun coming up with a genius idea; Wangnan Ja responding to Khun’s exquisite knowledge of how to motivate (or manipulate – depends on one’s perspective!) people; those things came together and allows Team Khun to win the day.
Moment likes that, where the action is based on the characters knowing each other and working together, are among my favorite. I used to laud the lone wolf or the rock star software developer. Then I actually worked on large scale projects and understood the limitations of the individual.
Also the strengths of an individual Don’t get me wrong. But it’s vanishingly rare where an unaided individual can affect events on a large scale. This show gets that.
What did you think of Horyang’s talk with Goseng Yeo? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to share in the comments!
