Tower of God Season Two Episode 22 – Quick Summary
In Tower of God Season 2 episode 22, “Their Workshop,” Khun, Rak, Wangnan Ja, Yihwa Yeon, and others began to execute their plan to rescue Bam. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, no plan survives contact with the enemy. Especially with an enemy as powerful as Beta and Reflejo. How much does the enemy know? How much can they guess? Can Bam’s friends get to him before he gets dunked in acid?

Favorite Quote from Tower of God Season Two Episode 22
Full-sized Rak is a bit more imposing than smol Rak. But only for those who don’t know him! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I’m in a mindset where I look for people supporting one another. The world’s chock-full of examples of back-stabbing, using the instruments of democracy to crush law-abiding foes, things like that – so real life is giving me my quote of evil drama.
Friends supporting friends are exactly what I’m in the mood for.
My favorite quote came as a surprise. I know Rak’s a decent sort. I know he’s dedicated to reuniting with the Black Turtle. What I didn’t realize is that he had come to respect Yihwa Yeon. Which I think is cool, because she’s been treated more or less as a running joke for a while now.
She and Rak had to fend off the first wave of attackers. One of them got the drop on smol Rak and sent him out frame. He knocked Yihwa Yeon and offered to spare her in exchange for favors. Yeah, dude was one of those guys.
Even as the dude made his “offer,” a huge shadow fell over him.
“Move,” Rak’s voice said (03:53). It was Rak – but he was no longer smol! He had transformed into regular-sized, huge Rak! “You pervert turtle!” Rak then proceeded to introduce the man to the idea of pain.
I appreciated Rak’s gesture. I think Yihwa Yeon did, too.

Now, that’s a familiar face! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: But First…
That “instruments of democracy” thing? Yeah, sorry about that. I made a huge mistake. Stupidly, I spent three minutes reading the news. I swore, after the election, not to do that. It’s not that I want to be uninformed. It’s that it doesn’t matter if I am. My vote didn’t matter. My writing had never been able to sway a single solitary soul (and I’ve written to my Congress-folks on numerous occasions). Hell, even my hopes and dreams and curses have had zero effect.
In fact, from hoping to make the world a better place, I’m down to claiming I will protect my family at all costs – because if I can do that, I’ll consider myself a success. That’s what I’ve been reduced to.
Actually, there’s a bright side. I hate illusions. Thinking that I had any influence on any aspect of my life outside of my home was an illusion. Glad it’s dead. Not quite buried. It tries to get out of the casket from time to time. But I’m confident it’ll stay dead soon enough.
At least fictional villains often have cool designs. Not so real life, I’m afraid! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I mean, the incoming administration has nominated someone who’s not only not qualified to be head of the FBI. They’re an avowed, loudly-proclaimed, unashamedly pro-single personality individual. Even Rich Nixon (yes, that Richard Nixon) appointed an apolitical figure to the top of the FBI. Even Richard Nixon thought it might be a good idea for the FBI to be non-partisan.
But, hey, political appointments like this have worked so well for Russia! Just ask the businessman and political figures who speak out against that leader, even accidentally. They’re so giddy and dizzy with joy that they fall out of windows. Repeatedly.
That sounds like a great future for the US, doesn’t it? Well, like I said. I hate illusions. Time to face the facts. Or not face them, as I’m trying to do.
Delivery: A Very Cool Reveal
Anyway. Sorry about that. I hadn’t intended to write more than a sentence or two. Let’s get to my favorite moment, shall we?
I like Hwaryun. Quite a lot, actually. She seems like a decent person (quite a contrast to – no, I’m not going there anymore in this post!) trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Which is to say, the Tower of God itself.
I’d say Reflejo looked showed, but it’s Reflejo, so… Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
When Reflejo confronted Yuto, I wondered what was up. It was obvious that Yuto had begun to work against FUG, which is cool. Then she pulled off her trademark red-faced helmet (11:29), and I was surprised and very happy to see Hwaryun (11:35).
It’s another example of friends sticking together – or at least allies sticking together after a lot of shared grief. You know, like the US and England, France, and the rest of the NATO allies? The ones we’re about to jettison in favor of… Oh, forget it.
What did you think of what happened to Wangnan Ja at the end? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
