TRINITY SEVEN Episode 8 Review – Quick Summary
In TRINITY SEVEN Episode 8, “Study and Holiday,” Arata Kasuga shocks everyone, especially Lilith Asami, by diligently applying himself to his studies. He’s so serious he even declined Levi Kazama’s offer to lick his fingers, saying he’d save that for a reward for later. Lilith finally asked him about it, and he said he wants to save Lieselotte Sherlock as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, Biblia Gakuenchou, the Headmaster, had another idea. He added Arata to Mira Yamana’s security team and sent them on a mission to check out their destroyed sister school. Is Arata really ready for field work? Will Mira accept him on her team? Or will Arata have to watch out for enemies from all sides?

Lilith at first thought that maybe Arata was simply indulging his curiosity when he asked one of the Trinity Seven to help him with some research. But no, he kept it up. By the mid point in the day, she seemed positively worried.
I’m not sure if Lilith was serious when she asked this. I mean, I could see her being this much of a straight man. But I have to wonder if all of the teasing that she’s endured is starting to have an effect on her. Because by the end of the day, she pulled Arata aside and asked him if he was okay. He responded that he was fine. In fact, he wondered why she had asked.
“Well, you’re being so diligent lately. I was certain you were replaced by a doppelganger,” she said (01:21).
I think he had that coming!

Setup: Lilith Takes the Lead
After all the study and preparation before the mission to the destroyed school, Arata and most of the Trinity Seven hit the hot springs. Yui, who had been in an enchanted sleep during everyone else’s last trip, was the most exuberant. The rest of them just seemed to enjoy the warm water and companionship.
Though I don’t think Sora got the memo about swimwear. Well, she’s a grimoire, so I guess she makes her own rules!

As they chatted, Lilith told Arata she’d like to show him something. The hot springs were apparently a network of interconnected streams and pools, because they were able to wade through what looked like a miniature valley until they came to a large pool.
“Here it is,” she said (16:52).
Arata almost gasped. A glorious view of the sun setting over the city greeted his eyes. She told him that such a beautiful view helped regain her mental and magical strength.
Delivery: And Arata Followed!
Now this is where it got interesting. Remember how embarrassed Lilith usually acts when anything talks about emotions? Remember how self-conscious she usually is about her body? In this scene, with a warm smile, she told Arata that he had worked hard on behalf of Yui and Lieselotte. What’s more, she stood there beside him, hands behind her back, wearing a bikini. A small one, too. That posture spoke volumes about her self confidence in that moment.
She told him that this view of the city and sunset was his reward for all of his hard work.
This showed how comfortable she has become with Arata. What came next showed how comfortable he’s become with her! I’m used to seeing Arata tease Lilith if she shows any sign of emotion. Here, he did no such thing. He simply thanked her, which prompted her to say it was no big deal. Then he got quiet and maybe even a little embarrassed. She asked him if anything were wrong.
Lilith showed a lot of intimate confidence in this scene. It shows how much more she trusts Arata now. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
“I-I mean, honestly, I’m pretty happy just being able to see your smile along with this great scenery,” he said (18:02).
It embarrassed her, of course, but in a very different way than his teasing. She seemed happy about it! I know I’ve called TRINITY SEVEN a harem comedy. And there’s no doubt that Arata flirts with all of the Trinity Seven, and they with him. But when it comes to an emotional connection, I think Arata clicks with Lilith more than anyone else.
