Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11 – Quick Summary

In Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11, “Dancing Cheek to Cheek with Yuuna / Sagiri and the Final Exam,” the test of courage from the previous episode took a turn for the worse when two students accidentally released a sealed monster. Can even Kogarashi stop such an ancient and furious beast? Is there anything that Urara and Sagiri can do to help?

Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.

Favorite Quote from Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11: Chisaki really liked how kogarashi solved problems

Kogarashi impressed everyone – Chisaki most of all! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

I respect strength. I respect disciplined strength even more. Add humility to the mix? Well, that’s pretty much what I expect for any man. Yes, I could say the same thing about women. But in this context, I’m talking about Kogarashi.

We know he can punch a god into next week. We know he astonished the unflappable Urara. We’ve seen him fight beside Sagiri, and we’ve seen him swim to the bottom of the ocean to punch the daylights out of a tentacled monster. So there is zero doubt the guy’s strong.

But he’s also disciplined and humble.

Could he have punched out the monster in the first half of the episode? Yep. But he chose not to. Instead, he evaluated the situation and decided the best course for all involved was to just  apologize. That’s just cool.

The monster thought so, too, as you can see in my favorite quote. The yokai said (03:57), “This man is the equal of that woman who sealed me away. No, he’s even more powerful.”

I don’t know who “that woman is.” But I know the monster knew a good deal when he saw it!

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11: Yuuna appreciated Kogarashi's words

Four simple words made such a huge difference. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Setup: Kogarashi is a Great Harem MC

Kogarashi is way less dense than most harem-style main characters (MCs). I’m counting this series as a harem because there are at least three of the female leads interested in Kogarashi. Even if one won’t admit it. Most of the time. Unless she’s under the influence of a potion.

Remember when he was hanging out at the aquarium with Yuuna? Satoshi Hyoudou, who can’t see Yuuna, asked Kogarshi if he’d asked Chisaki to the upcoming dance. Satoshi celebrated when he learned that Kogarashi had not, in fact, asked.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11: Yuuna didn't want to let on that she wanted to dance

Yuuna tried to hide it, but she really wanted to dance. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Yuuna got all shy and said (11:15), “Then Kogarashi, about the dance…”

She was going to ask him, or maybe suggest she’d like him to ask her. But she lost her nerve. But Kogarashi is not like that idiot Rito Yuuki. Man, what a…

Okay, this isn’t Rito’s story. Thank heavens. Kogarashi saw her expression. He heard the tone in her voice. And the dude remembered both.

Delivery: Yuuna and Kogarashi’s Kind Words

So later that night, as the group was hanging out near the bonfire. Several other students were already dancing. Yuuna looked on, just happy to be with her friends. Maybe she wished Kogarshi asked her to dance. Or maybe she thought about how lucky she felt that she had friends now.

That’s when Kogarashi called her name. Moments later, from the perspective of most students, he appeared to be dancing by himself. It probably looked a bit pathetic to them! Yuuna’s a kind soul, and she picked up on that. She worried he might feel embarrassed.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 11: Yuuna worried that Kogarashi might feel embarrassed

Yuuna knew how it must look for Kogarashi to be dancing apparently by himself. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

“Don’t worry about it,” he said (12:35). “I can see you.”

Remember all that stuff I said in my favorite quote about Kogarashi’s qualities? You can add kindness and consideration to the list.  That’s how I define masculinity – the ability to deliver top-notch performance, across the spectrum of human endeavors, as conditions warrant. Take down a god with one punch? No problem! Touch Yuuna’s heart with a genuine gesture? Also, no problem!
