Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 6 – Quick Summary
In Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 6, “Ms. Nakai’s Secret Adventure / A Sweet Day Off with Yuuna,” Nakai Chitose kept a secret from the residents of her Inn. It was neither deep or dark. But she dreaded any of them finding out. Can she keep it hidden from them – especially Kogarashi, who seems to notice everything?

Favorite Quote from Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 6
For someone remaining on Earth because of a lingering regret, Yuuna is a gracious soul. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I have to give Kogarashi points for dedicating himself to his date with Yuuna. No one at that spa could see Yuuna. All they could see is some dude pathetically ordering date stuff.
On one level, I don’t think Kogarashi really cared. Sure, he had to feel a little embarrassed. But the guy’s not only physically strong. He’s mentally strong. I mean, he pretended to go on a date with Sagiri back in episode 4 and seemed none the worse for wear.
He really, really wanted Yuuna to enjoy herself. But nothing seemed to work. Everything blew up in his face! Fortunately, Yuuna’s a gracious sort. She really appreciated what he was trying to do. So much so that she delivered my favorite comment.
After expressing her appreciation at the amount of effort he put into the day, she said (21:39), “I’d like to come back here, but next time with the usual Kogarashi-san.”
It’s kinda nice seeing how well the two of them try to treat each other.
Favorite Moment from Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs Episode 6
For someone who looks like a thirteen year old, Nakai could project quite the intimidating aura! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Not Sure about Some of Those Camera Angles
This episode reminded me of one thing that I didn’t like about this series: Nakai Chitose is the resident loli. That’s not a trope that I care for. It doesn’t bother me that she’s tiny. It’s not unheard of in classical literature for minor deities to take a wide variety of forms. It’s the intimate shots. She has the body of a thirteen year old. I think that’s something they could throttle back on.
Sure, the show exempted Nakai’s friends who were really thirteen from those shots. I give the artists credit for that. But, even if we put scruples aside, every questionable shot of Nakai takes time away that could have been dedicated to questionable shots of Nonko. At which point, the shots are no longer questionable but are works of art.
What a difference framing makes.
All that said, I owe Nakai thanks for giving me my favorite moment in this episode. Fiction’s all about the emotional delivery, you know? Spectacle is fun, sure. But shows are most memorable for the feeling they evoke.
The show does a good job of evoking emotion – like how endearing it was for Nakai to enjoy innocent times with her younger friends. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
If I mention Nina Tucker and “father” Shou Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, well – do I really need to say anything more? That’s an emotion that still stops me in my tracks, even though I saw the series over a decade ago.
The moment this episode gave me wasn’t anything as impactful as that – thankfully. But it was still a very, very cool moment.
We know that Nakai is cautious about how she uses her power. We even got a humorous example of it when she invoked good luck for herself so Kogarashi wouldn’t see her in her school outfit – only to get chased by a vicious dog as a compensation.
Delivery: Nakai Makes Her Displeasure Clear
She was having a great day at school. She was having even more fun after school when they went out for ice cream. That is, until two jerks decided to try to hit on middle school girls. She and her friends tried to ignore them. But the guys not only wouldn’t take the hint. They tried to force themselves on the girls.
As one of them tried to drag Nakai away, she stopped and told him to let go of her. When he tried to make some smartass remark back to her, she invoked her authority as a household goddess and said (08:18), “If you don’t cut the crap, I’m going to get angry.”
Keep in mind, she’s so short she barely came up to his waist. He’s not completely stupid – he recognized the threat. But the percentage of his brain that was stupid (I’d estimate it was north of 85%) shook it off. At which point, Nakai invoked a level of bad luck for him that made her warn him, “This is on you. Even I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Dude should have gone with his first instinct! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
We all know that Kogarashi happened to them, which, if I think about it, was probably a bit of good luck. He didn’t outright break their bones because he’s a nice guy. But Nakai achieved her ends, and that moment when she displayed her angry goddess aura was very cool. The contrast with her regular personality added punch to the scene.
What did you think of Kogarashi beginning realize he’d miss Yuuna if she ascended? What were your favorite moments? Please feel free to share them in the comments!
